Sections and new lights set to minimize 200-year-old company £500000

ONE of Derby's oldest companies is expecting to minimize £500, 000 in electricity bills shortly after installing solar panels and LED the amount of light.

Eggleston Steel, founded in 1809, invested £156, 000 in making their own administration block and two industries energy efficient.

The company in Centurion Course Business Park, Alfreton Road, produces replaced 90 light units equipped with LED lighting and has installed 288 solar panels.

The alterations to the the amount of light alone are expected to halve electric bills.

At the same time, its solar panels will produce an additional profit stream for the company as it could possibly be paid a "feed-in-tariff" for the energy source generated.

Managing director Richard Hewitt said he expected to save £500, 000 on energy bills over the the following 20 years as a result of the investment.

"We realised there were efficiencies to be made, as well as reductions to carbon footprint, so decided this description now was the time to become more environmentally friendly. Running the solar panels and the LED the amount of light aims to ease our impact on the earth.
